Sir Tony Kouzarides

Director of Milner Therapeutics Institute, University of Cambridge

Sir Tony is a Professor of Cancer Biology at the University of Cambridge and a serial entrepreneur.

In his academic capacity, he is director and co-founder of the Milner therapeutics Institute, whose mission is to deliver therapies by connecting academia with industry. His research group at the Gurdon Institute has studied epigenetic mechanisms of cancer for many years.

It his entrepreneurial capacity, Sir Tony is CEO and co-founder of Vellos, a vehicle for company creation and development, and director and co-founder of STORM Therapeutics, a drug discovery company. Previously, he co-founded Abcam plc, an antibody reagents company acquired by Danaher in 2023 for $5.7bn, and Chroma Therapeutics, a drug discovery company. In 2024 he was Knighted for his services to healthcare innovation and delivery.

Sir Tony did his PhD at the University of Cambridge (Kings Collage), and postdoctoral research at the Laboratory of Molecular Biology and New York University Medical Centre.
