Nikki Mann

Head of Communications (Secondment), Innovate Cambridge

Nikki is a strategic communications leader with more than 20 years’ experience working across world-leading research organisations in Cambridge. She specialises in translating complex subjects into compelling content that engages academic, commercial and public audiences.

Nikki is currently Head of Communications at Innovate Cambridge, on secondment from the Milner Therapeutics Institute, University of Cambridge. At Innovate Cambridge, she supports the Cambridge Innovation Story and the wider programme of engagement across the innovation ecosystem, while helping to shape the next phase of communications, strengthen global reach and develop the communications roadmap with key partners.

At the Milner Therapeutics Institute, Nikki leads communications and marketing, alongside the Institute’s editorial strategy and events portfolio. She works closely with senior academics, researchers and industry leaders to develop thought leadership and communicate research, partnerships and organisational activity. Nikki recently led a communications refresh at Cambridge NeuroWorks and has held communications, editorial and events roles at the Milner Therapeutics Institute and the Gurdon Institute, University of Cambridge. She has also advised a number of start-up companies in Cambridge.

Nikki believes the key to great communications is empathy, and this philosophy extends into her leadership style. She enjoys connecting people around a shared vision and, outside of work, loves theatre, creative writing, and can often be found walking through the Cambridgeshire countryside in her spare time.
