SUMMARY:Serendipity Table
DESCRIPTION:What if your next breakthrough came from a conversation with a stranger? \nThe Serendipity Table is an invitation to sit down\, slow down\, and talk – with someone you’ve never met. Or it’s an opportunity for a deeper conversation with an existing connection. Inspired by David Cleevely’s book Serendipity\, which explores how seemingly random connections are shaped by weak ties and the right environment\, the Table is a simple experiment in engineering those conditions here at The Glasshouse. \nThis isn’t networking. There’s no pitch\, no agenda\, no business cards required. Just a seat at a table\, willing conversationalists\, and whatever happens next. \nThe Serendipity Table is a collaboration with CamEntrepreneurs. Each Friday\, book one of the hourly slots and pull up a chair – up to four places are available per hour. There are no rules\, only curiosity. \nWho will you meet? \nRegister here.

SUMMARY:Realising the real value of AI: How companies in the East of England can make AI work for them
DESCRIPTION:AI is transforming organisations across industries\, and every day headlines hype utopian and dystopian visions of the future of work. However\, many companies struggle to generate tangible value from it\, and wonder where to focus\, what to build\, and how to be the rulers of their own destiny. \nThis event is for leaders who are serious about the fact that people are their greatest asset. We’ll explore the relationship between people and AI\, and what it means for business strategy. We’ll also hear from company leaders Tom Diethe\, Head of the Centre of Artificial Intelligence at AstraZeneca\, Katy Davies MD of Cap Air Systems and Alex Tunbridge\, CEO of Cambridge United about how they have leveraged AI to make it work for them. \nJoin us to discuss key topics for businesses today: \n• Understand how to know if your team is ready\, and how to equip them with the right skills and tools to be successful. What are your competitors doing? What are investors looking at? \n• Reimagine what’s possible with this new technology\, looking beyond automation to what can be a step change in value creation that wouldn’t be possible without AI \n• Co-design to define solutions with the people who will be using them. Where and how can you use AI so it works for your team and increases job satisfaction and bottom line? \n• Evolve to keep up in this fast-paced environment. What sort of mindset and conditions do you need for constant innovation? \nSpaces are limited\, so please register your interest today.

SUMMARY:Data Preparation and Fine Tuning for Small language Models with AWS
DESCRIPTION:Not every job needs a large frontier model. A small model\, fine-tuned on your own data\, can outperform larger ones on specific tasks at a fraction of the cost and latency\, whilst helping you to retain the edge your competitors can’t copy – your data. \nThis workshop will take you through implementing an end-to-end pipeline for fine-tuning a small LM (Llama 3.2 3B) to generate SQL queries from natural language using Amazon SageMaker’s serverless training and evaluation APIs. You’ll learn how to extract real user queries from an RDS PostgreSQL instance\, clean and format them into training data; and then use the Notebook to orchestrates dataset registration\, LoRA-based SFT training\, and custom Lambda-based evaluation with MLflow experiment tracking. \nBring your laptop\, and you’ll leave with a repeatable pipeline you can point at your own use case. \n12.00pm Lunch & Welcome \n12.30-12.40: Kick off and Overview \n12.40-2.20: Workshop Part 1 \n2.20-2.30: Break \n2.30-4.15: Workshop Part 2 \n4.15-4.30: Wrap up \nPlease note this event is targeted at startup builders and developers who already have some background knowledge of working with AI models. Attendance size will be strictly capped to ensure a quality experience for those who join.

SUMMARY:Product vs Promise: Exploring the complex tension between real and imaginary in the age of investment hype.

Today\, social reach alone can attract millions before a product ships\, but has anything really changed? \nThis event traces the historical swing between production-led and promise-led investment\, from the Bank of England to the Industrial Revolution\, and unpacks what it means for funding deep tech and AI today. Through talks and a concluding panel\, hear from inventors\, influencers and investors on what it really takes to secure funding now. It’s an essential session for entrepreneurs\, investors and business leaders at any stage of the funding journey.

SUMMARY:Founders Growth Community - Preparing for Clinical Trials
DESCRIPTION:Join Founders Growth Community x Innovate Cambridge for their next workshop: Preparing for Clinical Trials – Ensuring Foundational Clinical Compliance for Biotechs. \nThis talk will help leaders of early-stage Biotechs to understand why they have legal/regulatory responsibilities\, once they wish to conduct clinical trials\, whether that be soon or in the coming years. We will discuss what processes and systems need to be in place to start clinical activities as a ‘compliant Sponsor’. The talk will also explain\, and put into context\, some of the key jargon used (e.g. GCP\, SOPs\, QMS\, eQMS) as well \nHaving early awareness of what it actually means for you as a Biotech moving into clinical trials\, can help you avoid ‘critical inspection findings’ from the MHRA/EMA/FDA – which can lead to trial delays & marketing application rejections. if you want to know more\, then this talk is relevant to you.
